A work in progress

Please bear with me, gentle visitor! I have too many pictures and too many memories of the summer past to sort through. Describing and illustrating the summer will take me well into the winter. Everything is 'a bit' disorganized at the moment, but I am getting there. Don't get perplexed by the order of the entries below -I'll be that for both of us! I do the blogging late at night (after sorting through my yahoo albums, ghrr), usually when I can't sleep (which is always) and when I drink walnut liquer to help me sleep except that it doesn't - it only makes me want to drink more. The summer: Part 1

Branka, Marko and I were scheduled to fly out of Zagreb on August 17th. We arrived to Zagreb three days earlier and stayed with my aunt who's a nun and lives in a small village close to Zagreb. We had a huge room to ourselves where my aunt pampered us with bringing breakfast and coffee to bed. The house where she lives houses about 50 nuns. They have huge grounds complete with well-tended vegetables patches and flower beds.
A nun drove the three of us to Zagreb and dropped us off at the Kaptol, 'Gornji Grad' (the upper town - old town), where we visited the cathedral that was under construction, walked along winding little streets, looked at handicrafts, ate good food, sat down for coffee. We spent all day walking in Zagreb. It wasn't so hot and thank god, it wasn't raining either.
Zagreb has never looked better. Its green parks, flowers everywhere, rennovated buildings, well-groomed people... this all made me want live there. Who knows, perhaps one day...
I made hundreds of pictures in Zagreb. It was close to impossible to narrow down my choice for the blog. Try as I might, I have a feeling I didn't choose the ones that could truly represent Zagreb.
